- Hobbies include biking, sporting clay shooting, reading history, and volunteering in the Statehouse “Battery A” which fires the Ohio Statehouse Civil War cannons on special occasions
- Currently Joe serves as member of the Ohio Historical Society Development Board. Joe is the immediate past Chair of the Board of the Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce. He was appointed by Governor Strickland to serve as a member of the Minority Business Advisory Council to advise the Ohio Department of Administrative Services and the Ohio Department of Development on MBE and EDGE business challenges and contracting with the State of Ohio. Joe has served in various board and volunteer capacities with Huckleberry House, FirstLink, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and many other not-for-profit organizations. Joe serves as a mentor in the Ohio Supreme Court mentorship program, and serves on the Character and Fitness Committee of the Columbus Bar.
