Dave Hornback Retires from Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP

This month, CPM staff and attorneys are celebrating the retirement of Dave B. Hornbeck. For 53 years, Dave Hornbeck has been an outstanding leader in the legal community and has served businesses and families throughout Central Ohio. He devoted his practice to counseling businesses in all phases of ownership and served families through estate administration throughout his career.

David B. Hornbeck, Business Attorney

In 1962, Dave received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History/Political Science from Ohio Wesleyan University. After graduation, Dave served in the U.S. Air Force Security Service as a communications intelligence officer. He did a three-year tour in Crete, Greece. Later, Dave received his law degree (J.D.) from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1969.

Dave served as a solo practitioner in the early years of his career until joining Fred Campbell and Associates, which became Campbell Hornbeck Chilcoat & Veatch. In June of 2015, Carlile Patchen & Murphy merged with Campbell Hornbeck Chilcoat & Veatch, and this is where Dave spent the remainder of his career.

Dave is active in his community and athletics. He is a long-time member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and has served as a member of its Session and President of the corporation and legal counsel. Dave has always had a passion for athletics. At Wesleyan, he played quarterback for the 1961 football team, for which he was elected into the Ohio Wesleyan Athletic Hall of Fame. In his later years, Dave became an award-winning amateur tennis player at the National Senior Games.

“Dave, congratulations on your well-deserved retirement! Thank you for your many years of dedicated service. You will be missed!”

As Dave ends this chapter and begins anew, we welcome colleagues, business partners, clients, and friends to comment below, congratulating him on his retirement.

You and your colleagues made it painless and simple and a win-win for all. Your tutelage over the years has been invaluable to me and you’ve helped create a peace of mind in us that we thought may not be possible.
