Leon Friedberg

About:

Leon Friedberg has, for many years, served as counsel to closely held businesses, focusing on bankruptcy and insolvency law, civil trials and disputes, landlord/tenant and real estate law, federal and state appellate practice, commercial law, and mediations and arbitrations. In Chapter 11 cases, Leon has represented debtors, creditors’ committees, and individual creditors, extending his expertise to parties in Chapters 7, 12, and 13 cases. His litigation experience spans jury and bench trials at all state court and federal levels, including Ohio courts of appeal, the Ohio Supreme Court, various federal districts’ bankruptcy courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Joining Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP in August 1999, Leon is licensed to practice in the courts of Ohio and Florida, several federal appellate and district courts, bankruptcy courts, and the United States Supreme Court. His professional journey includes working as a solo practitioner and a partner in a large regional law firm.

Leon received his undergraduate degree (B.M.) from DePauw University and his master’s degree from Miami University. He received his law degree (J.D.) from Capital University.

Leon has been a frequent lecturer and author on various topics, including bankruptcy procedures, real estate liens, Ohio’s notary public laws, environmental law, commercial leases, and landlord/tenant laws.  

Personal Interests

Leon enjoys tennis and orchestral and chamber music. He has performed as a cellist in several Central Ohio orchestras.
