Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP (CPM) Partner Geoffrey Kunkler has been sworn in as President of the Columbus Bar Foundation (CBF), the philanthropic arm of Central Ohio’s legal community.

Kunkler’s term began at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting & 50 Year Breakfast, held this morning at Strongwater in the heart of Columbus’ Franklinton neighborhood. Each year, the event brings together Central Ohio’s legal community to celebrate the Foundation’s work, honor attorneys marking 50 years in practice, and welcome new leadership and Fellows.

For Kunkler, the role is especially meaningful because the Foundation’s reach extends well beyond the legal profession. Through charitable giving and community initiatives, the CBF supports programs that promote legal education, access to justice, and community impact across Central Ohio.

“Serving the legal profession has always been deeply important to me, ” said Kunkler. “Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to help individuals and families plan for the future, reinforcing the value of stewardship, service, and giving back.”

“Those same principles are at the heart of the Columbus Bar Foundation, which is why joining this organization and now serving as its President is such a privilege.”

“Geoff understands that some of the most meaningful work we do happens beyond the desk,” said Jill Snitcher, executive director of the Columbus Bar Association and Foundation, who has worked alongside Kunkler through his involvement with the Foundation.

“He sees how our efforts reach past our members to the greater Central Ohio community, and that perspective is exactly what this role calls for.”

Kunkler’s Path to Leadership

A partner in CPM’s Family Wealth & Estate Planning Group, Kunkler advises individuals and business owners on estate planning, asset protection, charitable and philanthropic planning, estate administration, and related matters.

“The Foundation is in a strong position, and I look forward to building on that momentum,” Kunkler said.

“I am especially excited about bringing more members of our legal community into the Foundation’s work. Events such as this allow us to celebrate the attorneys who have shaped our profession while also inspiring those who will carry it forward.

“Recognizing their contributions reminds us of the legacy we inherit and the responsibility we share to continue that tradition of service. Together, we can create a lasting legacy that supports both current and future generations of lawyers and the communities they serve.”
