Docketing Specialist

Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP, a successful full-service Columbus based law firm, is currently searching for an experienced Docketing Specialist for its Litigation Department. The position requires at least 3+ years law firm experience in docketing litigation matters. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Just as important, this role requires someone with exceptional multi-tasking skills and someone who is detail oriented. This position is very hands-on, high volume, and highly administrative in its day-to-day responsibilities. The perfect candidate needs to be able to work under moderate supervision. Some of the job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate, manage and maintain the firm’s busy litigation docket, including maintaining attorney’s calendars for hearings, trials, motions and other deadlines.
  • Entering all date related matters from orders, decisions, stipulations, discovery, motions, etc.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local rules for calendaring deadlines and practice
  • Conduct status checks and updates to docket, and maintain records of the same.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of pleadings, including complaints, discovery documents, and motions.
  • Respond to inbound calls from courts, defendants, and clients.
  • Management of cases from date of placement through post-judgment proceedings, including reporting activity to clients pursuant to firm and client standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in creditor representation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
