Brent Rosenthal joined Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP in July 2007. Brent focuses on representing closely-held businesses and their owners in a broad scope of their legal needs including – business formation and structuring, finance, transactions (including acquisitions and contract preparation and analysis), employment and general business and legal counseling. Brent’s commercial real estate practice includes representing buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants and developers in the acquisition, sales, leasing, development, financing and zoning and land use.

Brent received his master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University in 1980. He received his law degree (J.D.) with honors from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1984 and was a member of the Order of the Coif.


Brent is a member of the Columbus Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association. He is one of the first Ohio lawyers and one of only 18 attorneys in the state to be certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Specialist in Real Property – Business, Commercial and Industrial Law (renewable 2022). OSBA certification is a voluntary process that requires a commitment to excellence. Ohio attorneys who are certified as specialists by the OSBA must take and pass a written examination in their specialty field, demonstrate a high level of substantial involvement in the specialty area, fulfill ongoing education requirements and be favorably evaluated by other attorneys and judges familiar with their work.


Brent has received the Martindale-Hubbell® rating AV Preeminent®. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America list and has been named a Central Ohio “Best Lawyer” by Columbus CEO magazine every year since 2005.


Brent is very active in Rotary, serving as District Governor of Rotary, District 6690 (2011-2012) and held international leadership positions (2012-2018). He is a member of the Rotary Club of Westerville. He previously served on the City of Westerville Board of Zoning Appeals (1990-1998) and during that time as chair for 5 years. Brent previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Westerville Area Resource Ministry. He is active in the community, church and civic matters.


Brent resides in Westerville with his wife, Sylvia, and has three adult daughters, two sons-in-law, two beautiful granddaughters and a handsome red-head grandson. In his spare time, he enjoys riding his motorcycle, playing guitar, reading, listening to music and spending time with his family.
