Michael Smith practices business law and securities law at Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP. He concentrates on business, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, technology transactions, technology licensing, and banking and securities. Mike joined CPM in February 1991. He currently serves as Chairman of CPM’s Business Law Practice Group.
Mike received his undergraduate degree (B.S.) with honors from Kenyon College in 1979 and his law degree (J.D.) from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1982.
Mike is a Past Chairman of the Columbus Bar Association Business Law Committee. He has spoken on business, banking and securities issues to various groups. Mike is a member of the Sections on Corporation, Banking and Business Law through the Ohio State Bar Association. He is also a member of the Securities Law Committee of the Columbus Bar Association.
Mike has received the Martindale-Hubbell® rating of BV Distinguished®. He has been recognized in “Best Lawyers in America” by Best Lawyers® (2013, 2014, and 2018-2020) and has also been named a 2017 “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers® for Business Organizations including LLCs and Partnerships.
