
Michael Preston is a law clerk in Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP’s Business Law group.
He is a May 2026 J.D. Candidate at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he was named a Mills Family Scholar. He sat for the July 2026 Ohio Bar Exam and has passed the Ohio Law Component.
Prior to joining CPM Law, Michael served as a Legal Intern with The Ohio State University’s Office of Business and Finance, where he reviewed and analyzed contracts across goods and services, flagged key terms and compliance risks, and worked with associate directors and legal counsel to redline agreements and resolve contractual disputes. He also interned for President Judge Stephen P.B. Minor at the Potter County Court House in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, assisting with memos and legal research spanning negligence, protection-from-abuse orders, and civil and criminal matters.
Michael earned his B.S. in Business Administration, summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University, where he was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta.
Outside the office, Michael enjoys hiking, traveling to Colorado, reading detective novels, and watching biopics.
