Robert B. Barnett Jr. joined Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP upon graduation from law school in 1975 and practices estate and trust planning, probate, closely held general business and tax planning. Bob represents individuals, executives and family-owned companies concerning their business and estate planning needs. Bob has also served as a Mediator for probate and estate disputes.
Bob received his undergraduate (B.S.) in Business Administration from The Ohio State University in 1971. He received his law degree (J.D.), cum laude, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1975.
Bob is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, where he serves as an emeritus member of the Section Council governing board of the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Committee. He was a long-time member of the Columbus Bar Association, where he has served as Chairman of the Taxation, Estate and Gift Tax and Probate Court Committees, as well as a member of the Ethics Committee.
Bob is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell®. He is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the Ohio State Bar Association and listed in the “Best Lawyers in America” by Best Lawyers® (2006-2020), and has been a Fellow of The American College of Trust & Estate Counsel since 1989. He has been selected by Ohio Super Lawyers magazine to the “Super Lawyers” list (2004-2020) and named by Business First as one of “Columbus’ Top Lawyers.”
Bob has published several articles in the Probate Law Journal of Ohio with the permission of Thomson Reuters, as well as in an article in Trusts and Estates, a national magazine.
